HOUSE of GUITARS.
H.O.G. 2009-2010
The House of Guitars was formed in 2002 by its director, Jeff Williams. They are the elite performing group of the guitar program at SCPA Chula Vista, which serves over 250 guitar students between Chula Vista middle and high schools. Groups of this kind are virtually nonexistent at the high school level....until now. The group is now in its ninth year of existence.
The group performs arrangements in much the same way a
string ensemble or wind ensemble would, with guitars divided into 2, 3 or 4
parts all playing together at the same time. They play anything and everything,
from classical, jazz and Broadway to classic rock. The name "House of Guitars" comes from the
name of a store in Irondequoit, New York, which is actually an old three-story
house where they sell...well, you get the idea. Every city should have a store
like that.
