General Info
Students in these classes have already taken one year of Beginning Guitar. Some students may be in their 2nd year while others may be in their 3rd, 4th, 5th or even 6th year of study. All students are expected to have their guitar and music with them every day in class. Locked storage space is provided and Mr. Williams is the only one with the keys to the storage cabinets.
NEW THIS YEAR!! . . .
Now students can practice with recordings of the songs they're learning in class.

The CVH Advanced Guitar class has learned "Baja", a great surf guitar classic, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears For Fears, "Barcelona Nights" by the Gypsy Kings, and the Jazz classic "Take Five" by Paul Desmond. They are now working on " Lucky Southern" by Keith Jarrett. The Intermediate class has learned "Walk, Don't Run", "Baja", "Opus For Amos" (by Jeff Williams!) and "I Shot the Sheriff". They are currently working on "Sweet Home Alabama".
Miscellaneous
I recommend Mark's Guitar Exchange on Otay Lakes Road across from Southwestern College for guitars, strings, picks and repairs. It's by far the best guitar store in our area. Further away in Grossmont Center is Guitar Center, a huge store with lots of choices and loads of stock at good prices. It's less convenient, but worth the trip if you can't find what you want at Mark's. If you're looking for an inexpensive guitar, Walmart sells the First Act brand, Target sells the Starcaster, made by Fender and KMart sells Lyon guitars, a brand that's been around since the mid 1800's in this country! Costco sells Yamaha guitars for about $150.00. The Best Buy store near the 54 freeway now sells guitars. There are a lot of decent guitars out there for not a lot of money these days.
